Amaechi Asks Court To Stop Impeachment

Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has asked a state  High Court in Port Harcourt to declare as unconstitutional, any proceedings for his removal that may be conducted outside the State House of Assembly.

He is also asking for a declaration that any notice of allegation of commission of impeachable offences against the claimant signed by less than 11 out of the 32 members of the Rivers State House of Assembly does not qualify as the one-third of the 32 members of the House of Assembly.

The Rivers House of Assembly has been shrouded in controversies over an alleged plot to impeach  Amaechi by the anti-Amaechi lawmakers.
