Sexy diva, Jennifer Lopez may be packing the heat as one of the sexiest and richest female artistes on the block, but the Latina actress felt the pinch of insecurity for a long period of her life.
In the latest issue of Cosmopolitan magazine which the ‘Love Don’t Cost A Thing’ crooner covers, the singer/actress revealed that her biggest insecurity was her singing and even though she sold millions of records, she always felt like she wasn’t good enough at it. She credits ex-husband, Marc Anthony and the birth of her twins Emme and Max as what eventually helped her overcome her insecurity.
In her words: ”The biggest insecurity I had was my singing. Even though I had sold 70 million records, there was this feeling like, I’m not good at this. And while I was married to Marc [Anthony], he helped me get over it. He kept telling me, ‘You’re the only one holding yourself back from reaching your full potential as a singer. You have to let go’ … I was always so insecure and just kind of going along. Then I grew, little by little, and realized, wait a minute, this is not a fluke. I’m not a mistake — I work my ass off. And I know what I’m doing.”
It didn’t stop the sexy diva from smiling to the bank all these years though, J.Lo is currently worth about $45 million and the figure is about to go up with her return to the American Idol’s stable and a home line for Kohl’s. Also speaking on her personal life, the 44-year old said material things didn’t really matter but rather what she brings as an individual. She said: ”For me, it’s about having a great partner to walk this life with,” she explains. “I have my own high standards for what I want in a partner and how I want to be treated. I bring a lot to the table. I’m not talking about material things but what I have to offer as a person — love and loyalty and all the things that make a good relationship.”
Jennifer Lopez is recognised as one of the most business-minded entertainers with interests in several ventures including fashion, a restaurant business and of course her foray into reality TV appearing as judge on the American Idols show. In all of this, she admits that it goes beyond just business as she’s involved emotionally as well as financially channeling her energies as an artist.
